According the BBC ’Dancing On Wheels is a glitzy and ground-breaking new series in which celebrities partner wheelchair users for a dance competition with a difference.

The six celebrities taking part are Heather Small, Mark Foster, Caroline Flack, Martin Offiah, Michelle Gayle and Kevin Sacre. They will partner wheelchair users from around the country, none of whom have ever attempted wheelchair dancing before.

Well it’s different!

Tune in to watch the first episode at 9pm, Thursday 11th February, on BBC Three.

The singer is to visit the troubled country this week after recently taking part in Simon Cowell’s Haiti charity single.

Speaking to the News of the World, Burke explained: “For me, singing two lines on a single doesn’t mean I have really helped. I wanted to go out and physically help the kids. I’m not a doctor, but I can give clothes, food and love. At least I’ll be able to make a couple of kids smile.”

She added: “It hurt me when I saw the photographs of dead bodies on the streets. I was really angry, thinking ‘what is this world coming to?’ That is when I begged my label to let me go out there.

She actually begged the label to let her go…

UK NEWS: AKON SET TO HOST EVENING SHOW ON CAPITAL FM

The Guardian reports today that AKON will present a weekly Saturday evening show on 95.8  Capital FM.

The singer will present his first show this Saturday between 7pm and 9pm.

UK MUSIC: SABRINA WASHINGTON – OMG (OH MY GOSH)

Former Mis-Teeq front woman Sabrina Washington is back on the music scene with her debut single OMG (Oh My Gosh).

I think Sabrina looks great in the video, but the person responsible for the entire look of the video and it’s concept doesn’t seem to have an original bone in his/her body.

As for OMG… I love a good Pop track but sadly this isn’t one.

Sabrina is actually a strong vocalist who should be showing off her abilities on a well produced/superior track. 

OMG will be officially released on the 15th March.

John Terry has been sacked as England captain this afternoon after a meeting lasting just 12 minutes with England boss Fabio Capello.

The woman at the centre of the affair allegations, Vanessa Perroncel, 33, looked stunned and mouthed ‘Oh my God’ when she heard the news.

Fellow defender Rio Ferdinand has been named as the new captain and Steven Gerrard vice captain.

In a statement Capello said that Terry had been stripped of the England captaincy ‘in the best interest of the team’.

Fabrice Morvan, one half of the duo who sparked outrage in 1990 when it emerged that they had used session vocalists to sing their tracks, insisted that modern acts are similarly fraudulent with their music.

The star pointed to lip-synching during live concerts and studio technology such as vocal auto-tuners as examples to back up his point. He told USA Today: “It’s not about being authentic anymore, it’s about [being] entertaining.”

Milli Vanilli…. they bring back memories……..

Milli Vanilli were the originators when it came to ‘faking it’ in the Pop world, but after the proverbial hit the fan back in 1990, Rob and Fab were then brutally thrown under a bus by the man who initially came up with the idea and encouraged the deceit.

Pilatus and Morvan were noticed by music producer Frank Farian, who signed them to be part of a musical act. Shortly after a trip to Turkey, where the duo was reputed to have gotten the band name from a local advertising slogan, Milli Vanilli was born, with Pilatus and Morvan serving as the public faces for the vocal talents of Charles Shaw and Brad Howell, who Farian thought were talented musicians but lacked a marketable image.

The first Milli Vanilli platinum album was Girl You Know It’s True which became a worldwide hit. The album produced five hit singles including three number 1 hits, “Girl I’m Gonna Miss You”, “Baby Don’t Forget My Number” and “Blame It On The Rain”. Milli Vanilli won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist on February 21, 1990 for “Girl You Know It’s True”.

Despite the enormous success, the duo were a frequent target of rumours and allegations of on-stage lip-synching and not having sung on the album. Charles Shaw, one of the actual vocalists of Milli Vanilli, told a reporter about the truth of the group’s secret, but later retracted his statement after Farian paid him $150,000.

When Pilatus and Morvan pressured Farian to let them sing on the next album, Farian revealed the truth to reporters on November 15, 1990 that Pilatus and Morvan did not actually sing on the records and their voices were dubbed. Milli Vanilli’s Grammy award was withdrawn four days later, and Arista Records dropped the act from its roster and deleted their album and songs from their catalog, making Girl You Know It’s True the largest-selling album to ever be taken out of print. A court ruling in the United States allowed anyone who had bought the album to get a refund. Source

The funny thing is if the duo went down the same route in 2010 the industry wouldn’t bat an eyelid.

Rob Pilatus died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs in Frankfurt on the 2nd April 1998.
