BET UK: ONE YEAR LATER…

BET UK (Black Entertainment Television) officially launched here on February 27th 2008.
But as the network approaches the first anniversary of it’s UK launch, do you think it has succeeded in making a positive impact here in the UK?
Has BET successfully managed to gear its content towards a British audience?
Has the programming so far been positive and informative?
Has it helped to promote homegrown talant effectively?
Is BET UK everything that you hoped it would be? If so then why?
Has BET UK proved to be nothing but a huge disappointment? if so then why?
Let me know what you think…….

BET reminds me of Yo MTV raps
Apart from Helldate giving me jokes its rubbish it hasn’t integrated with the UK and I doubt it will. The last 2 episodes of Boondocks kind of rapped up BET to the Tee if anyone saw those episodes. If you aint seen them then you need to hunt them down, soo funny!!! Uncle Rukus is a joker

I remember tuning in at a friend’s house… it must have been Sade day, because they aired her old videos/tracks for over an hour back to back….

Has BET successfully managed to gear its content towards a British audience? ha no, whatr stale out of date shows like 106 & park all 3 months old – piss take!
Has the programming so far been positive and informative?

uve got the female saying ‘u dunn kno’ in the programme link
u’ve got the ‘its my thing’ campaign featuring a UK graphologist, a radio maker, an MC and a saxophonist (all respectable people, btw)
and u’ve got the UK version of Hell Date (which I’ve neva watched, btw)
i think we’re catered for, and represented.
lol.

BET were never planning to have a UK version of the Channel, they were just looking to expand and grow their brand.
The only programming thats been positive for me is “Meet The Faith” and “My Two Cents”.
Has it helped to promote homegrown talant effectively? Yeah Ghetto LOL!!
BET probably looked at the so called “talent” we got here and laughed their heads off.

@Kaydee
No it’s been sold to us as ‘BET UK’ to give the impression that it would be geared towards a UK audience. But in reality, yes it is just about them wanting to expand their brand.
When you watch BET in any other part of the world, its the same stuff they air in the US.
