AMY WINEHOUSE’S NEW SONGS REJECTED BY RECORD COMPANY?

It has been reported that Island/Universal Records have rejected new tracks submitted by troubled singer Amy Winehouse, because they are too dark.

A source disclosed to The Sun, “Everyone understands that Amy is an artist and she must be true to her instincts. In the past, she’s written frequently about broken hearts and boyfriends, but this time round she’s delving into harrowing terrain.”

The source also added that Amy has “ditched her trademark vintage soul sound and is now heavily influenced by reggae.

What does the label expect? Happy uplifting music? This is Amy Winehouse we are talking about here not Kylie Minogue.

…And Amy leave the Reggae genre alone!

  1. They say music is therapeutic, lets not forget she refused to go to rehab. Not sure about reggae style though. But who knows, she might just pull it off. LOL

  2. They’ll be hailing her as the queen of reggae next…then a whole host of white female reggae singers will get signed.

I’ve always found it interesting that a record company can just reject an artists’ work. What is a creative artist then supposed to do? Become what they are not?

If Amy records the album in Jamaica with the best producers then that is exactly what will happen. Winner of Best Reggae album, the new queen of Reggae etc etc.

Amy Winehouse the saviour of reggae music..

  4. But lets be frank, she’s best when she’s going through a hard time. If she had listened to her record label, she would have never made “Rehab”. She might pull it off, unless she goes all Kanye, then we might have a problem.

  5. @Pheva – that is what frieghtens me,…

I think she should record her music anyway and push it out white label if needed let the masses hear whats on her heart, if it stinks it stinks, but record execs don’t always know whats best.

@ Janice – I agree, she ain’t doing an album like ‘My Life’ again, classic material!
